I can not add a contact to the favorites nothing happens, I go to favorites and click on add it then takes me to my contacts I select 1 and nothing happens

Open your Contacts app, bring up the contact you want to favorite, and tap the star icon at the upper right. Does that work?

`No when I do that nothing happens. There are 2 areas of favorites, contacts when opened all favorites are shown at the top, on the call tab there are 4 options at the bottom favorites, recents, contacts, voice mail. When I hit that favs it shows 1 contact, if I select it to remove it then another 1 shows up so they are there but only show 1 at a time. If I go to the favorites on the home screen it shows favorites at the very top if I try to remove 1 it wants to delete it completely from the device. very frustrating

Go to Settings>Apps, select Phone, then Permissions. Is Contacts permission turned on?

Yes I also checked the contacts thru the settings and the phone shows in permissions

Can you confirm that you're looking at the "Favorites" section of the Favorites tab, and not the "Frequents" section of that tab?
