February (2018) Update Out - Pixel 2/2XL

My Pixel 2 XL 128 was purchased directly from Google. I just got the Feb 5 update on Feb 13. That's an 8 day lag! Very disappointed with Google!
Better than an 80 or 120 day lag, isn't it? Only last week was my Samsung Tab S3 running Nougat patched against KRACK. Until last week it was still running the AUGUST patch level. I'm OK with getting the update 8 days after release...
Or did I miss a [/s] at the end of your comment?

It really isn't that bad. If you compare it to any other phone manufacturer in the Android world it is insane at 8 days only.
Also with the recent Google Play Services fix the next update in March will happen in batches unless you press the update button -- then it will be instant.

They have been since the Pixel line and back even when I had my Nexus 6P.. so not sure what you are talking about. Updates went out in batches.
It is one of the reasons you see articles about the Update Button finally doing something (like the article below)...

I do recall getting updated when pressing the update button. Maybe a working update button going forward will be what I was used to. ;-)

Well as you can see that article is from Sep. 2017. So it was a new thing w/ Oreo where they finally made it do that. After that it bugged and broke / they had to re-fix it. The feature of tapping update and it forcing a direct pull are new
.Therefore if you remember it that way before you were simply just lucky with your batch order.

I was still on the Google Play Services 11.9.75 when I got my update (OTA) on Feb 8th . Actually got the update on both my Pixel 2 XL and my Pixel (sailfish) at the same time .
Actually still on that same version of Play Services. I never considered joining the beta just for the reason to get the update.
Yes , sometimes I to would be one of the first to get the update , other times would not be.
I think the longest I ever had to wait for the update via OTA , was like 10 days after it was released, which us Pixel owners call late. But really its not,we are just spoiled sometimes .haha
