February Security Update

This. Clearing your cache is absolutely fine (although the once every two days someone mentioned is way too often, and will actually slow the phone and use more data/battery).

Clearing data on Google services framework does work for forcing an update, but it will also screw your device up pretty nicely.

oh ok, I don't even know about the clearing data on Google services or even how to do it :)

This is true -- a Google employee even confirmed it isn't the best thing to do. I still don't have the update but I am not worried. I am used to carrier phones where you are lucky to ever seen an OTA so waiting 2 weeks into the month to get it doesn't bother me. I will just wait for that pop up :).

They seem to come in randomly. Jan I got my security update 15 days or so in. Feb though, I got it the 2nd or the 3rd. Dec one I got about 8 days in. Idk they are all over the place.

Man that is crazy. Mine have been always around mid-month .. and usually at night once I am home. /shrug lol.

Got a notification that an update had been installed (yellow triangle).
Checked the Build Number and it was still at MMB29P
Power cycled the 6P and the Build Number remained the same.
Checked the Android Security Patch Level and it was still at January 1, 2016.

S.F. East Bay.

Got my update on my old phone last week and updated it. Got a replacement phone and it arrived yesterday and updated came as soon as I powered it on.

Got mine Monday,4 days earlier then last month's .
Oh by the way I didnt do anything to get it ,except check for system update and on WiFi's

No I believe it was clearing Google services framework that causes issues. If anything clearing your cache benefits your user experience.

It was, you are correct. It was clearing of some data, but yes, it was the Google Services Framework, not the Cache.

Got home.. Put phone down for a little and came back to this :).

Mine won't stop giving me that even though the update has been installed already (3 times so far). Any suggestions on getting it stop?

Did you do anything like clear Google framework to get the update ?

I did cheat and I think this is their way and the universe's way if paying me back :-). I pushed my date forward a week, got the update and pushed it back to Auto date.

That may be why. I know messing with the framework and stuff can cause more harm then good. This is usually why I just wait.. If it takes 2 or so weeks that isn't bad compared to 6+ months via a carrier branded device.

Edit - a FDR may help you.

Thanks. Much appreciated! Lesson learned.

I did the same but I'm now had 5 update notifications and the unholy way to remove then I'd to repeat the update process

I just updated again about an hour ago, and now its so far not giving me a notification any more. I suspect that if you just ignore the notification until your "real date" is reached, it will eventually go away. So just install it once a day until the notification stops.

February security patch

Ok i went in after I got my February update and in the settings it said "January 1" under security patch. Does anyone else have this after the February patch was installed? (settings, about phone, security patch)
