File Manager & External SD Card - Asus 302C

Enjoying my new Asus 302c - Wondering if anyone can shed some light onto why 3rd party file managers (i.e. Solid Explorer and the Asus file manager) do not recognize the 128gb external micro SD card I have installed in the unit? The built-in file manager for Chrome does recognize the card but the other file managers do not?

I believe it has something to do with how Android apps are sandboxed, they do not have access to "external" storage. I noticed this on my Flip c100 when I got android apps. Not sure if Google plans on implementing SD/USB external storage access for Android apps but we can always complain at them until they do it.
