File Modified Date shows as Unknown when copying files from Android to Linux (as of lately)

It used to work fine, but since about a week or two ago when I copy files from Android phone to my Arch Linux PC, mod file time stamps all turn to Unknown (1/1/1970). I am updating the system regularly, so it might be that some update caused it? I have to use phone -> Windows -> Linux copying mechanism to preserve timestamps (yuk!)

I'm experiencing this too from a couple of months. Arch Linux here too. It's not always the case however, it happened sometimes that the dates got preserved for 2/3 files out of 100+ and then "unknown" for the others. I instinctively thought that it could be a problem with Android, but seeing that you use Arch too, it may be due to some update to mtp software.
