Hey all I connected my LG G5 to my Win 10 system to transfer files on the phone from one folder to another on the phone. After moving all the files that I wanted to their new location the files were no longer on the phone. I've lost alot of pictures and ringtones. The phone was set to file transfer so I don't know why this has happened. Please help, thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum as a new member! I've found that moving files around in the phones internal storage can have mixed results. I've searched for files that I knew where there and turned up nothing, but I could access the files using apps. Some things that appear to be files are actually a kind of placeholder. Regardless, have you used the file manager on the phone to look inside, as you may see different results. Also, with music files and pictures, have you had those apps rescan for new files? That may turn up something. I don't bother with ringtones, but I always always always back up meaningful photos.

ive scanned using the phone and the computer using a *.xxx string, none of the jpg's or mp3's exist on the phone and my storage has gone up by the amount that the missing files were equal to. I've also tried restarting the phone to see if that would bring them back up to no avail

I've also tried searches using wildcards like I noted before, and couldn't get files that I knew were there. But, your storage increasing is not a good sign. I've also run into problems when using 'move' vs 'copy' so always do the copy, then delete the source files once I know the copies are safe. Sorry, I got nothing else at this point, hopefully someone will chime in with some good news and a fix.
