FINALLY!!! AT&T S5 Firmware update

So I just updated mine from 4.4.4 to 5.0 last night. The phone does seem to run faster and no glitches so far. Not sure why AT&T made us wait 5 months for 5.0 though. Where's 5.0.1?

Roommate used Kies to backup his phone, did a Factory Reset, and then installed 5.0. Kies failed to restore his SMS messages, his icon choices, and his phone's wallpaper.

Why do people recommend Kies? Apparently failing to restore SMS messages is something other people have experienced. Worse, Kies packs all your SMS messages into a file format that nothing else can restore to the phone. I tried a few programs people recommended but they were all just adware and malware and didn't actually do anything.

Pretty sad that Samsung Smart Switch succeeded in backing up 3 years of SMS history from my roommate's iPhone, only to lose them all going from 4.4.4 to 5.0 of Android.

My S5's battery life is better since the Lollipop update.

That's good to know. Battery life is good with KitKat already. So I will updated to Lollipop when it's pushed to mine.

I used Kies 3 to back up my S5's data prior to doing a factory reset due to issues with the 4.4.4 update. After the factory reset, Kies 3 restored all my data, including messages, photos, contacts, etc. Nothing I selected for backup was lost. That said, I never rely on a single backup as unexpected issues can arise with any backup.

I also backed up my data prior to updating to 5.0 and then again a few days after the update.
