finally saw an EVO.. not impressed with UI performance

Okay guys.. I found a video comparing HTC Desire against a new Samsung Galaxy.. the HTC's touch tracking shows the jumpy/choppiness that I found in the EVO. I guess it must be an HTC thing.. Watch in the beginning of how the colored circles on the HTC screen jumps and struggles to track the finger. This is exactly the behavior I found while dragging a web page in the browser and panning/zooming photos in the gallery.

Well for the record, iphone was out of my consideration a while ago.. EVO was my choice by default (reluctantly given the poor camera and the lackluster UI performance from my short play with it). Now having explored more information, I think it might just be an HTC shortcoming. I'm sure the EVO is a great device for folks who are not bothered by those issues, but for those who are, the EVO's shortcomings are difficult to live with.

Why don't I seem to have this so-called jumpy, and choppiness? My Evo is smooth as my buddys Nexus One.

Well, I made a quick video that doesn't show any of the goofiness in that video you posted. You really shouldn't compare different devices even though they're from the same manufacturer. Different screens, processors, graphic processors, etc. No clue what was going on with that Desire, but it really doesn't have anything to do with the Evo. Video isn't the best quality because I didn't feel like setting up any lighting, but you can see what's going on.

Yeah the Evo is fine when it comes to the two circles not crossing over.

However, you do see the touch input lag, right?
Your finger moves, and the circles move a bit later.
That's cause of the 30fps unfortunately.
