Find My Device doesn't work on Total Silence

I have a Moto G5 Plus with Android 7.0, and the Find My Device feature of the android device manager doesn't ring my phone when the do-not-disturb setting is on "Total Silence". It also doesn't ring when I use the Find my Phone app on my Wear OS watch. However, the phone does ring properly if the DND is set to "Alarms Only" or "Priority Only".

Is this the intended functionality? I realize that "Total Silence" implies... total silence, but the Find My Device website specifically says "Device will ring for 5 minutes, even if set to silent."
