We just got our daughter her first phone, a Huawei P Smart. Since she rides her bike to school, we want to use the phone as a gps tracker to check if she arrived safely. However, when I log in to Find My Device, the phone sends off a loud whistle notification. That's no good when she is in the middle of her math class. I can't figure out how to disable sound and just make it silent like Find My Phone works on our iPhones?

Help much appreciated!

B. Diddy,

Oh, thanks. I suppose that will work just as well! I'm not very skilled in the Android/Google eco-system. If I'm not mistaken, Find My Device could be used as a last resort, if location data is switched off by the kidnapper?! :D

That's not exactly what you asked, but for what looks like exactly the same use case as you, my children and I use "Zenly", so that I know where they are on their way to the University. It's free, completely silent and passive, and most importantly it is very savvy on the phone battery, as the GPS device isn't used most of the time, unless some of your relatives is actively trying to locate you.

Hi if you didn't find out yet there is a way to completely disable the notification from find my device on the target device
go to setting - notifications
click advance on the top right and then the 3 dots and click show system
scroll down to google play services
scroll down to find my device and turn it off
done, I hope it can help you
