Yesterday I took some picts with my J2 Samsung and transferred them from the internal memory folder "DCIM > Camera" to the hard drive of my pc.
The files were cut (control+X) and pasted on my PC hard drive.
Nothing wrong with transfer but I decided yesterday to downsize one of them and regretted as there are some details I need to examine in higher resolution.
The picts still reside in the internal memory (they only are unavailable by normal means) and can be recovered.
I've tried most of android recovery application available but they are not able to find the files.
I installed on my PC Minitool Mobile recovery that requires to root the device , what I am not eager to do because my new J2 was purchased a couple of days ago and it may void the warranty.
What else would you suggest me ?
Thanks

That would normally indicate that they aren't still on the phone, but ...

There is nothing - to restore deleted files in Android (and that's what Cut does, Copies, then Deletes) the phone must be rooted. You can't get to the directory itself without root, and that's where the information for the file is. (Unfortunately, rooting the phone could overrite the pictures you want to get back.) Once you root, just use DiskDigger undelete to undelete whatever is still there. (If you can unlock the bootloader [back everything up first] and the phone is an SM-J200 or an SM-J250G, install TWRP once you're done, so you can back everything up easily.)

Next time, never work on an original file, even with a backup - picture, document, anything. Always make a copy. Then if you need to go back, you can. Once you're thoroughly convinced that you'll never want to go back, you can delete the unchanged copy.
