Fingerprint error message on Galaxy s6

[Android Central Question]

I have never set up a fingerprint on my galaxy s6 but decided to recently and keep getting the message "An error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor. If this message appears repeatedly, restart your device". I've restarted several times and keep getting this message. I've tried several fixes but unfortunately when I go to my apps, the android fingerprint app doesn't even exist so there is no way to clear cache or data. Help!

Try setting it up using a different finger. If it still happens (and you should set it to recognize at least one finger on each hand), you may need the fingerprint sensor replaced.
