in regular light it's not bad at all but in direct sunlight you can see every smudge and wipe and fingerprint. i have the brightness turned down to where lever is below the checkmark.

it's a beautiful display but smudges really show when it hits sunlight!

are all glass smartphones like this?

i'm using lens optical microfiber cloth and spray from sunglass hut to clean. only spray on cloth - not on display!

glass+dirty ass fingers on it all the time= fingerprints, lets not make this too complicated. Just wipe them off on your t-shirt.

Yes, all glass smartphones are like this to a degree. Apple and some others have tried to reduce this with some sort of coating that repels grease/oil/smudges, but with varying degrees of success.

I think my Pre did a better job of hiding smudges, but that may be because it was so much smaller.

On my iPhone I use a matte screen protector. It eliminates the fingerprint issues but makes the screen just a little bit less sharp. Totally worth it to me.

Yeah, the Iphone has an oleophobic coating on it that resists fingerprints. I remember there being an issue with it rubbing off over time though. Don't know if the current ones have it or the Evo,.

In addition to the Evo, I have been using an iPod Touch for a while. Using the same screen protector, the Evo just gets filthy and is tough to clean (smudges), while the Touch doesn't seem nearly as bad. Odd......

i just wipe my phone off with my shirt and it seems to clean real easily, are you working on cars or something?

I actually don't think its that bad. My Droid, and Nexus One seemed a bit worse.

Then again maybe its just me always keeping my hands clean before using, etc..

just a fact a life with these phones, I use eye glass cleaner and a micro fiber cloth

I carry around a bottle of Klear Screen and a cleaning cloth with me. I'm so OCD that I'm wiping mine off almost every time I use it haha. The Klear Screen actually makes the screen easier to swipe too.

+1 for the scratch test. I bought the 3 pack sold by Sprint and designed for the EVO, while in the store on Friday. There is 1 anti-glare and 2 standard clear protectors. I'm currently using the anti-glare. While I think it cuts down on fingerprints, I'd love to go without it entirely.
