Fingerprint problems with Oreo

So I upgraded my Verizon S7 Edge to Oreo this morning, and everything is working smoothly except for the fingerprint scanner. Before the upgrade, the fingerprint scanner worked flawlessly. Now, most times when I try to use the scanner to unlock it sends me directly to the PIN screen, with a message, "Enter your PIN, as required by the security policy, instead of using your fingerprints". I get this probably 4 out of 5 times I unlock the phone, and it's getting extremely frustrating. I deleted my fingerprints and rescanned them, but it doesn't seem to have helped.

Any suggestions would be much obliged!

Okay, so this thread pointed me in the right direction, as I was using Nova with a Screen Off app linked to double tap.

My solution was simply to change Nova double tap to its own screen lock, selecting the option to turn the screen dark and delay the screen lock to make it compatible with fingerprint scanners. I deleted the Screen Off app I'd been using. It's been a while since I fiddled with Nova so I hadn't realized this was an option! Since making the change, the fingerprint scanner is working every time.
