I have not had that once. May be defective.

Mines been flawless... my mother on the other hand is disabled and it's hard for her to lay her fingers or thumb completely flat so it gave her that same message. I finally just took the fingerprint security off and disabled the lock screen altogether. She doesn't leave the house much so it's no big deal for her phone to be "unsecured".

I did, but sometimes the error msgs still show up later on

How many finger prints do you have saved? I have 4 in total. Prints 1 and 3 are my right thumb, prints 2 and 4 are my left. I noticed it helps tremendously with accuracy.

I have both thumbs and both index fingers scanned. I figured these are the only ones I'd ever unlock with anyway.

This week I had the same issue....but was never able to get back into my phone and had to factory reset.

Everything was working fine and then all of a sudden, I kept getting that error and my backup password wouldn't work. I restarted and turn off phone....even left it off for 2 hrs b/c I had to jump on a plane. I researched and found out 2 possible solutions...using Android Device Manager or Samsung's Find My Phone to lock the screen and set a new pwd. ADM didn't work (stating the fingerprint pwd was already set and to use it) and my Sprint S6 doesn't have options to setup Find My Phone. I called Sprint and Samsung support....no other solutions but to wipe my phone.

Now I have my bluetooth headset as a trusted device with Smart Lock since I can still access the notification bar when locked. Hopefully this will save me in the future.

I have heard of that issue happening twice. I recommend you back up all your data just in case you have to complete a factory reset.

It happened to my phone when I had the regular s6 (exchanged for the gold S6 edge once I saw how dang cool it looked) but it never happened again.

Also try adding a finger print if you only have one.

I actually have 4 saved. ...but I ended up re-registering and it solved the issue. ...i always try to keep fingerprint area clean too....no factory reset or anything...
Thanks!!

I kept getting this error on my S6...i did a factory reset and it hasnt returned since.

I have tried to get the fingerprint scanner to work for me several times. It will work right after I rescan, then minutes later it does not recognize my thumb. I tried another finger and it seemed to work better but it was awkward to use so I have disconnected the feature.

I had this same issue..After several resets, I called ATT and they replaced it.
