Fingerprint Scanner Issues

This morning my fingerprint sensor stopped responding so I rebooted the phone. After reboot the options for using the fingerprint sensor have disappeared entirely. Anyone else have this issue or any advice?

Unfortunately, neither safe mode nor a cache wipe has made any difference. I'm hoping to avoid a factory reset but that may be the next move.

Yes, I agree. If it still doesn't work, then it's likely a hardware failure -- is the phone still under warranty?

In good news the factory reset seems to have done the trick and everything is working again.
