Hold it under a bright light like your desk lamp. You will see scratches. The new S8 fps has a glossy paint finish which made it more scratch prone. Is your's scratched up?

Edit: bring it outdoors when it's bright and sunny. I noticed the fingerprint scanner was all scratched up. They should've gone with a matte finish to avoid this, but then again it'll ruin the look of the phone.

If you have anything on your finger tip like salt it can scratch it. Case or no case.

No, but the back of my case kept phone is already scratching into oblivion. I've kept it in the Ultra Hybrid since minute 1.

I noticed last year when people were reporting the s7 phones Home Button either marked up or if someone affixed a screen shield then it could lift the paint.

Possibly the same with the fps ?

As it's going to be one of the most touched parts it's possible for more wear and tear imo.

3rd party cases may not always be as snug fitting as the Official ones so particles can get in and rub. Also some 3rd party cases aren't as finished off quality wise. Not all I submit so rough edges etc can possibly play a part in marking up. Glass will scratch. ;)

I'm using a cheap tpu case with a small thin piece of material inside. The type that comes with spectacles. To help stop marking up until My Black Dragon dbrand skin arrives.

Did what you said -- I don't see any on mine.

Every bend and scratch test Jerry does, the finger print sensor is like just a normal paint covered button that scratches super easy. Luckily all but one phone the sensor still works perfectly when heavily scratched up.

Would it be considered as being too nitpicky to say really too bad they couldn't take that extra step and use sapphire covered FPS? For such attention to detail on design and on a $900 phone I'd want them to sweat every detail.

Yeah I can see some small abrasions to the scanner. I hope it doesn't get too bad over time but honestly probably wouldn't have seen it if I never saw this post.

Yes, I just noticed my fingerprint scanner is scratched. It's also been in a case since day one. (Looking closely, I'd guess a stray grain of sand got in my pocket)

I guess it's made out out of some sort of polycarbonate, not glass? The HR sensor doesn't have a mark on it.

Doesn't really bother me as long as it doesn't impair the functionality.

Tell that to all manufacturers then :P.

Two words: matte finish. My V20 has matte finish on the fps, zero signs of scratches. The thing is that the clear coat on the glossy finish scratches

Same as mine on my S8+ (perfect w/ no scratches) .. so?
