Did anyone who's actually played with a Note 8, how tough would it be to use the fingerprint sensor next to the camera?
I love the Note 5 sensor and if I update to the 8 I'd like to be able to use that fingerprint sensor as well.

Not the ideal location but you will get used it after few days (based on experience with S8+ and S8)

i do not like the location (i have an s8+) and tbh i had talked myself out of a note 8 mainly because of the fp scanner placement. then they came out with the discount for former note7 owners and i gave in and palced the order.

that being said you do get used to using it where it is.

Be sure to remember that you are legally required to unlock your phone, by fingerprint for any law enforcement agency. You are not required to provide your unlock code. I'm not promoting either way to lock your phone. Just informational...

a case helps. I like the thin cases. The cutout helps to guide the finger to the right spot

I have large hands and its poorly located really a stretch and it's on the left upper would of preferred right side for ease of access, this will be the N8 most disliked feature pending battery reviews real world

I'm not a big fan of the FPS location, but I've been using Smart Lock for a while now and have noticed I'm not unlocking my device very often. I use trusted places and trusted devices, so it's not very often that I'm going to be searching for the FPS.

After having the large HTC, I think the mega or something it was called, this shouldn't be too bad. The HTC had a 75/25 shot of working for me personally, so I'm hoping this will be a little better.

On the law enforcement comment, I have heard that before, but I personally don't have much to hide. If I didn't work in other people's homes for a living I probably wouldn't have a need for a lock lol

Not ideal but I'm not too bothered for a few reasons

A) There are plenty of alternative ways to unlock the phone , iris scanning, facial recognition and even voice commands. Plus you can use trusted places when at home.

B) All versions of Samsung's FPS that I've used in the past have sucked and I always end up switching it off.

C) Using a case apparently helps to locate it and I've already accepted that this is a two handed phone. I think I can get used to it.

D) The silly heart rate monitor now separates the camera from the FPS so at least my camera lens won't get smudges.

Actually you are wrong. I have been a Police Officer in a MAJOR Metropolitan Area for 20 years. No LE Agent or Agency can force you to unlock your phone. That's what warrants are for. Stop spreading misinformation.

I had both the S8 & S8+ and sure I got used to it but was still annoying especially when it's mounted.

I can't wait for when either Apple or Samsung to get the FPS in the Display.

Smart Lock is awesome!!!

Smart lock won't open apps, banking, PayPal,Att, ect, I use the finger print sensor for multiple apps and phone lock needs to be easy and dependable

Really, you've had trouble with Samsung's FPS? They have always worked pretty much flawlessly for me.

But the point you make about a case helping find the FPS is an excellent point I haven't seen made in the forums

I had a tough time using the iris scanner in the Note 7 and hope this feature is improved in the Note 8

The fps on the s7 edge wouldn't always read my print and I kept getting locked out.

I actually preferred the swipe down fps on my S5 as it was more accurate.

Make sure that those of you that do use the FPS; WRITE DOWN YOUR PASSWORD. Because inevitably, some of you are going to lock yourselves out of your phone because you can't remember your password. Consistent with the release of the Note 4/Edge, Note 5 and Note 7. 😏
