Any of you also have this on rare occasion. It's happened a few times now although not too often. You go to unlock your phone with your fingerprint and nothing happens at all. Try again and nothing. Wake the screen and you find the fingerprint graphic doesn't show and it won't respond at all to fingerprints until you unlock the phone with your PIN then re-lock and now it's working again.

I'm not talking about the security feature that requires you to enter your PIN to unlock every, what is it 48 or 72 hours?, that I know is so you don't forget your PIN/password. This is like the app for the fingerprint sensor crashes in the background or something. Not sure if that is what's happening cause as mentioned simply using the PIN then re-locking gets it showing up again. Quite annoying when it happens.

Do you have smart unlock enabled at all as this bypasses the need for fingerprint and won't show the graphic?

This is the andriod security feature and it dont have to wait 48 or 72 hours.

This is NOT the security feature. The security tells you on the screen that use must use your PIN to unlock. This is the fingerprint sensor going to sleep or something and not waking up.Like I said, it happens rarely, but when it does nothing happens when you place your finger down - no "no match" message, no fingerprint graphic displays even when waking the screen, etc. This is not a feature, it's a glitch.

So your not prompt to use password/pin? Then I misunderstood what you meant.

it's not a glitch, it's definitely a feature.

on the S8 and S9, every once in awhile, the same this occurred. It would require you to enter the password again.

as mentioned, it's a security feature.

The security feature TELLS YOU THAT YOU NEED TO ENTER YOUR PIN. This is NOT *that* feature. The security feature also recognizes that you are trying to unlock the phone and thereby prompts you to enter your PIN. This glitch does NOTHING. It doesn't even wake the screen.
If you believe it to be a "feature" then please don't bother to reply.

Exactly! Thank you. Correct, it doesn't do anything. Doesn't wake the screen and doesn't display the message that you must unlock with the PIN. Then when you wake the screen by either double tapping or hitting the power button you get the time and all that but no fingerprint graphic. It weird, like the fingerprint software went to sleep and won't wake up.

it's the exact same thing that happened on the S8 and S9.

you can continue to believe it's a glitch, but it's not a glitch.

I know exactly what you're talking about because the first time I experienced it, it was very annoying.

the fingerprint sensor is NOT going to sleep, that's just an incorrect assertion.

I do know that if you change your password or pin this Android lock feature prompts you very often that's definitely annoying.

Are you using any type of lock screen or Good lock lock screen ?

When you double tap to wake does it look it for a pin or is it fully unlocked?

When double tapping to wake it does not ask for a PIN, it just displays the lock screen contents like usual, only the fingerprint graphic at the bottom is not present when this occurs.
@mustang7757 - not using anything, no 3rd party lock screens or launchers etc, just the Samsung built in.

Capacitive sensors also sometimes don't "wake up" with a touch. When I had my LG V30 it was extremely rare but I did have a few times where you would touch the capacitive sensor it wouldn't respond. Again, it was way rarer but when it did happen pushing in the button woke it up.

But it allows you to enter pin?

If I swipe up then yes it presents the keypad to enter the PIN.

I'll try to keep an eye out for that behaviour....I have witnessed a different issue. Sometimes the screen is completely black and unresponsive. I have to hit the power button to wake it but I don't lose FPS.

I'm having the same issue, except that when the fingerprint sensor doesn't show up, if I tap the screen to wake it, it prompts me to swipe up to unlock the phone, then prompts me for the PIN.
