fingerprint sensor on Galaxy 7 Edge does not work

Last evening I reset the scanner using a different finger. It worked last evening. This morning it did not work, and the screen to open with my passcode is no longer available. I am locked out of the phone. Each time I try to open with fingerprint and it fails, the phone says I have to wait so many minutes before re-trying. First it was 5 minutes, then 10, then 30, and I am now waiting for the 60 minutes to complete. The screen to enter password is no longer available. I telephoned ATT and they said the only thing I can do is a factory re-set.

Welcome to Android Central! That's odd--it should be prompting you for your backup password. I'd ask AT&T to give you a replacement phone. If they can't help you, then contact Samsung directly.
