Just picked up my 6a yesterday and everything seemed great until I started to use it for other apps. Example using the sensor on my bank and T-Mobile worked great for the first few times then all of a sudden the apps keep asking for my password again this has never happened in my 13 pro. Anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening?

It could possibly have happened if those apps updated. Other than that, I'm not sure why that would be happening. My apps that use the fingerprint sensor seem to be working well.

Any updates available? Probably see future updates to address this or send feedback to Google

The phone itself isn't having trouble unlocking when you use your fingerprint?

The device I had no but in different apps like banking and t mobile
it did.

I wonder if that's happening with other Pixel phones, or if it's just specific to the 6a. If other Pixels are having issues, then maybe it has more to do with the biometric API rather than the sensor itself.

My wife's 6a fingerprint sensor works as advertised. Compared to her Pixel 2XL, which has the sensor mounted on the back side of the phone, she reports she has to press just a bit harder and hold her finger down for a split second longer. She is happy with the way it works.

I'll have to ask her if it works normally with her banking app to compare with what 04liberty is reporting.

All of my wife's apps that are set for fingerprint unlocking work just fine. If there is an issue I would hear about it.

I have a different phone, but I couldnt get fingerprint to stick with my T-Mobile app either. It just keeps turning back off so now I just use Google autofill with fingerprint required to fill in password. Saved passwords show up in Gboard suggestions so it's just one extra step.

I think a lot of people have been having issues with the fingerprint sensor on the new pixels. Do you really not have face unlock on that phone? I would try removing all saved fingerprints and disable the feature. Then restart your phone, enable it back and add fingerprints again. Also see if turning off the fingerprint swipe gesture does anything.

The Pixel 6 series of phones do not have face unlock.

Well, I'm not sure. When I was setting up my wife's 6a I saw a setting for Face Unlock. Tapping on it did nothing, but it was there. So maybe the hardware is there but they haven't sent the software out yet.

Well then, if it did nothing then it doesn't have it.
There were rumors the P6P (and maybe the P6) were going to get it but that didn't happen.
Also my wife's Pixel 6a doesn't have any indication of Face Unlock.

I mean every other phone manufacturer offers face unlock. This whole security issue claim makes no sense.

They do offer face unlock, but it's not that secure, unless you're doing fancy things like infrared mapping. I don't know for sure, but that might be why Google is slow to bring it to the current Pixels (especially after their super-secure face unlock on the Pixel 4, using the Soli chip).

Here's what I saw on my wife's phone. Apparently this is some feature of the Google Nest smart home suite and not a face unlock feature per se.

I read somewhere that face unlock was making their new chip really hot or something like that.

Tell Google bologna probably only flagship newer device without it might be less Secure

I wouldn't doubt it lol. And if you have a pixel 6 have someone else try to unlock your phone with their finger because I heard some phones anybody can unlock it lol
