I can't believe I just found out about this app but it's awesome. It allows you to lock any app on the phone so that it can only be opened with your registered fingerprint. Seems like this app should be included with the phone. It is free and works very well. There are in app purchase for additional themes, notification protection and location security. I paid for the ability to use themes but haven't checked out the other two paid options yet. Anyone know about them? I assume that you can use the location setting to disable the fingerprint requirment when you are at certain locations?

Anyway, check it out if you haven't yet. This is the most useful function of the fingerprint scanner on this phone IMO. We really need Playstore integration so you can pay for apps with the fingerprint scanner.

It sounds like a nice app, but I can't imagine what I'd use it for. Once I unlock my phone, I sort of want to get to things fast, and the fingerprint swipe on mine takes 3-4 tries to read properly. I can't imagine going through that more than once.

I hear you but for me, I use swipe for my lock screen. I like being able to unlock quickly. Most of the stuff on my phone, I don't care if people went poking around in but I can use this to prevent people from accessing my online dating apps, messages, checkbook, memos etc...

Also, if you're having trouble with your fingerprint I have a tip. What I did was set up the 5 different prints under 1 finger, my right thumb. Each time I used a slightly different angle. Mine unlocks the first time 8 out of 10 times. I have no need to set up 5 different fingers and unlocking with my right thumb is how I always use it.

Ive been using this app for over 2 months now. I tried sesrching for this option through exposed, but came up short on finding one. I was surprised to find it on the play store and have been enjoying the security on selected apps ever since. Like you, i too enjoy unlocking quickly and only need specific apps secured. Also, I was frustrated figuring out the scanner, but If set properly the scanner works 95% of the time on my first try now

There's also an option to use an alternate password in lieu of the finger scanner. Ive used this at times when I'm at the gym running and hands are sweaty making it difficult to unlock apps, so I type my alternate password and works flawlessly

Thanks for pointing this one out! I had missed it.
No problem. Like I said, I just found it last night and am a little embarrassed that I didn't learn about it until now since I've had the phone for almost 2 months and I do read a lot about smart phones.

With all the bloatware they put on the carrier specific phones, you'd think they'd include something useful like this app.

I mentioned this in my original post but does anyone know if Google plans to utilize the fingerprint scanner for app purchases in the Play Store? This seems like it really should be happening soon now that the Note 4 is equipped with a fingerprint scanner as well as the S5.

You had to go and make a really good point, didn't you? :p That's actually a really good idea, and I think I'm going to do that. It's VERY annoying to have to unlock my phone to get to my music player or check the weather. I like your idea a lot.

Also, very good tip on the fingerprint unlock. I have 3 left, so I'm going to set those all to my thumb and see if it's any better.

Lol! Yeah man, try it out. Setting the thumb multiple times should definitely help with accuracy. It helped me a lot.

Been using this app for a month and is great. The developer updates it quickly.

Yeah this thing is sweet. Much quicker to get to most of the apps. I forgot you only get 3 prints, but adding the 3rd as my thumb again seems to have helped, thanks. Glad I looked at this thread.

My bad. I set my prints up a while ago so I didn't remember that there were only 3. I was thinking 5 for some reason.

I thought it was 5 too. It's fine though, setting up the second one seems to have solved it. I can unlock apps on the first try most of the time and on the second one for sure now. Your post definitely helped me out a lot.

Not to dredge an old thread, but I thought this might help someone.

I struggled with the FingerSecurity app for a few months, but kept getting "Undefined Error" around every 4th time I'd try to unlock something. I had an email exchange with the developer, who told me to re-register my finger prints (I loaded all of them up to use the same finger at differing angles to increase the success rate) but that would only help for about a week before the error would start to creep in again. When I'd get the error, the phone would freeze up for 30-60 seconds - a huge problem for me when you're trying to make a quick call. Also, even when it did work, I had a lag between when the app launched and when I was prompted to authenticate. That made me a little nervous.

I eventually uninstalled the app, but recently I found another solution. I have the Xposed framework installed (rooted S5) and found a module called Fingerlock. It works exactly the same way as FingerSecurity, but with no errors at all (so far after a week) and no lag. I'm prompted instantly, before the app launches, and the best part is that I can disable it when on a trusted WiFi or BT connection.

It's definitely worth checking out if you're rooted!
