Firmware Update Error Code 1012

Not impatient, not trying to jump the gun. None of that. Out of curiosity, I did a Firmware Update check. It usually comes back pretty quickly telling me that nothing was available, but this time it took a very long time checking, then I got the following:

"The firmware update could not be completed. Please try again later. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Customer Service. Error code:1012"

Anyone know what this is?

Also, I tried repeatedly to install the 2.2 manual update that came out Friday but it never completed; got "Status 7" errors.

So, my EVO seems to be working alright, but I can't seem to complete any updates after the Day-1 OTA. If anyone has any information, I'd appreciate it.

Not sure on the firmware error but most of the status 7 errors seemed to be related to 1 of 2 things. Not being updated to 1.47.651.1 first or having the file named update.zip.zip instead of update.zip

I just got the same error with firmware update, have no clue what it means though.

I know the file didn't have the double extension because I downloaded and renamed the file on the EVO itself. (Used the EStrong manager.) I haven't updated to 1.47.etc, so that may be it. I used to get notified about that update everyday, but it seems to have stopped. I don't get notified anymore and I can't complete a manual check either.

Seems like something is screwed up, but other than the failed 2.2 installations, I haven't done anything out of the ordinary. I supposed a call to Customer Service is in order when they open later today.

UPDATE: Following the advice of a thread here, I stopped running the Automatic Task Killer and rebooted the phone. After that, Firmware Update did its check and quickly told me there was nothing new, and the HTC Software Update once again alerted me that 1.47.x was available. I'll wait until Tues to see if I get a 2.2 notification even though I haven't installed 1.47.

ok not every1 is dumb and outs an extension on twice.. Some of us KNOW EXTENSIONS ARE HIDDEN IN WINDOWS... i had to run signed ruu then update ota then install manual as update.zip.
