Firmware update - odin won't connect?

I have everthing downloaded and ready but gear doesnt show up as connected to odin 3.09 Gear is in download mode ......

Tried three different usb cables.

Any ideas as to what im doing wrong.

Try downloading and installing updated Samsung drivers, there may be a separate one for the Gear and restart the PC. Also try different USB ports, and not a USB Hub.

I have update the driver and changed from one port to the other. still there is no message on the odin 3.09 that my samsung device is connected. what should i do
