First Android, New Galaxy SIII, Lots of Questions!

As far as drm goes they did give it up...to a degree, you'll never know what your going to get. I've tried to play some mp3s and some will play and some won't and will only play in iTunes. I did find the folder so we'll see tomorrow when my phone arrives. :-)

man its stuff like this that makes me glad i rejected the ipod for a generic mp3 player and the iphone for a Symbian s60 lol :)

global s3, UK. Ask me anything and ill reply even if its just an intelligent (or stupid) guess ;)

So far the Samsung program Kies has found ALL my media and is now ready to sync with my GS3 once it arrives tomorrow...keeping fingers crossed.

Whats the best FREE keyboard for Android? One thing I did like about iOS is the autocorrect keyboard.

TouchPal keyboard is free in the Play Store. It has good reviews. Check it out.

Alternatively, you could sign up for the SwiftKey VIP program, and you get to test the beta versions of their new keyboards for free. Same with Swype, which is a pretty cool keyboard.

I don't think I've seen any really good keyboards in the Play Store for free, but most have at least a free trial period so you can decide if it's worth the money. I personally think SwiftKey is worth the money, especially if you get it on sale. The auto correct in SwiftKey can't be beaten, especially compared to the gaffs I've seen from the iPhone keyboard.

You can sign up for the beta keyboards at swiftkey.net and http://beta.swype.com.

Other popular keyboards (still not free, unfortunately) are SlideIT and Thumb Keyboard.

I totally agree SwiftKey is as good as it gets it's like it a preemptive strike it memorizes your spelling of new words and spell the ones in its' program making texting faster and less likely to make mistakes spelling also double twist is another program that can be used two ways syncing your Itunes music via syncing or wireless wi-fi your tunes over to your SG3 much like Kies wireless but you have to pay for doubletwist wireless.

Ok so the keyboard suggestions were dead on, SwiftKey rocks! Now my next question is battery management. The S3 is supposed to have good battery life im not getting it. Any settings i should be aware of or do users have any setups they like to conserve power? Also stock Web browser or Chrome?

Go through the list of apps and disable anything you don't use. A lot of system apps are auto-started and take up both RAM and battery power, even if you never open them. I must have disabled 20 or so apps with all the Samsung bloatware, the AllShare apps, S Voice, and such, and I got at least 400MB more free RAM at boot and hours of extra battery life. The phone ran a lot better, too.

Re: First Android, New Galaxy S3, Lots of Questions!

Ok maybe I'm disabling them wrong because a list of them always automatically starts.

Re: First Android, New Galaxy S3, Lots of Questions!

When you disable them, the best bet is to reboot and see if they are autostarted on boot. None of mine were. Just go to the App Info page, and use the Disable button. There are only about 3 apps that can't be disabled.
