First CM7 RC has Landed for the Droid!!!

Oh ok, your first post didn't have the file extension.

Were you in the bootloader? You have to be there when you flash that file, or it won't work either.

I started having problems with CM7 so I went back to Liquid and then flashed CM7 again. The home button stopped working, the wallpaper kept reverting to the default grass pic, the lockscreen just disappeared, some of the settings choices even disappeared. I did find that on mine it couldn't handle 1.25Ghz but did great on 1.2Ghz ULV.

One more thing, for a minute the labels on my icons started scrolling, which looked awesome, anybody know how I did that?

Been having an issue and I'm not sure that it is CM7 related or not, but I did not have this issue before I flashed CM7...

I've noticed that, a lot of times, texts are not coming through. I have had a significant number of times where someone has sent me several texts and I have not gotten them. It's weird because it isn't consistent. I could be having a conversation with someone and then suddenly not get any texts. At first I assumed they just stopped texting me, but discovered that they sent me several texts that I just did not get. Also I discovered on Monday that some of my texts are not going out, even though Handcent tells me they did. I thought it might be Handcent, but I checked the stock messaging app and these texts are not there either. Also, sometimes phone calls are affected in a similar manner. Either I get a voicemail from a call I never knew was coming in, or the phone will ring but the screen is black and I can't accept the call or do anything really until the call ends and the phone starts responding again. But by that time it is too late. I called out of work on Monday by texting my manager. I thought everything was fine until a friend of mine texted me and told me that our manager called them to see where I was, as I did not show up for the shift, and no one received any messages or calls from me, and I didn't answer the phone when they call me... Even though I thought that I had texted them just fine.

I was just about to post about your first issue. I noticed that it happens a lot. I'm flashing the newest nightly in hopes that this text message error is fixed. Its a PITA

Please come back and tell me if it helped. It was incredibly disconcerting to potentially be fired as a no call no show when I had thought I did everything I was suppose to do. If the nightly fixes the issue, I will flash it as well.

I don't want to go back to 6.1.2 as I LOVE CM7.... except for this rather large issue...

I think sometimes it's a VZW thing. I've occasionally missed texts with 2 different devices on different ROMs.

My fiancee just got a new BB Tour and she tells me she sent me texts but I never received them...maybe a BB to Android deal, maybe VZW, maybe ROM lol, who knows.

Ok now I'm concerned, is this an actual problem wit CM7 or is it isolated? I haven't noticed anything yet but I can have days where no one txts me. This would be a BIG problem if I missed calls or txts that were important

didn't gingerbread have a well known issue pertaining to text messages? i'm pretty sure that I remember there was an SMS issue where people didn't receive texts properly; it was on the nexus s as well. apparently, gingerbread 2.3.3 was supposed to fix this issue. 2.3.3 is the version that Pete has in GPA14.

It was that your text messages went to the wrong person.

The new Droid OTA (FRG83G) update fixed this.

I don't think that text issue is the same one. This seems random and frequent. I almost got fired on Monday because I didn't send/receive texts or calls properly.

I really don't want to revert back to 6.1.2!

No word on ETA for final build or even the next RC. You could go with RC2, it's really stable and ready to use.

It was CM7. The droid runs out of memory so fast that it begins killing tasks/processes/services.
The messaging app happens to be one of them. Locking it in the memory helps, but will still miss a txt every once in a while.
Same goes for calls.
I ended up reverting back to CM6 because CM7 is still too unstable for my liking :/

I couldn't play music. It would play MAYBE a song and then stop playing. Even if I didn't have anything running in the background.
Really a pain. CM6 is much more stable (and faster) than GB.

Peter Alfonso has completely fixed the Gingerbread excessive killing in his new GPA14. It may be stock, but I haven't had a single problem with music stopping or skipping, I haven't had any SMS problems at all, and I even haven't had a single redraw. Its not just me either, Pete has declared that GPA14 makes the Droid the same multitasking beast that it was before. Apparently he made some vital changes to the ROM. Anyways, if anyone is really bent on Gingerbread, Pete's new ROM is near flawless. Hopefully he will communicate his changes to other devs so they could implement this fix into their ROMS.
