First day with the S4 - Screen is using 64% of the battery

This seems abnormally high to me? Seems like a lot of people here can get that percentage down to the 30 to 40% area. My screen brightness is set at 50% and when I lower it down even more the 64% doesn't seem to change anyways. Is lowering the screen brightness the only real way to lower this percentage down? Are there any other ways to make it better.

I will be doing my first full charge of my battery tonight so hopefully tomorrow my battery is going to be on point! *crosses fingers*

That's just how much your screen has used of the total. So if you've used, say, 30% of your battery total then the screen used 64% of that 30%. Make sense?

Don't forget it's a percentage... so if you aren't doing a lot of stuff with your phone... the screen will use a higher percentage relatively.

Please post your battery screen.

Mine says 65% as well. I have no complaints over battery life, its awesome (unlike my s3). I don't have it set to auto brightness, I have it on the middle.

Here are the screen shots.

How much time was your screen active? From that graph it seems you didn't start from a full charge. I just rocked one day and ten hours with five and a half of it of screen time from a full charge. I'd charge all the way up and reanalyze your results.

Also, you need to click on the screen to actually look at the total time the screen has been on. Just knowing it has used a certain percentage of the battery (and the screen is one of those things that uses a lot of battery) isn't very helpful.

Battery life is EXTREMELY subjective...I put zero weight to anyone who claims 'days of use' without showing 'screen on time'. These phones last forever on standby but chew down the battery if being used. The battery will last ~5 hours of screen on time...regardless if its been off the charger for 12, 24 or 36 hours. Your battery and phone are fine. ;)

Why anyone would simply lie about their battery life, or even contemplate the benefits of bluffing it's ability is beyond my understanding. A thread about a battery is not for attention, but for discussion.
But I digress, let me add weight, as apparently things were too light. ;)

^I wasn't attacking you...you got the 5ish hours of use...though I do see a ~15% charge in your graph. :p

I do giggle a bit when I see phone idle so high. Usually voice calls are #1 for me, display #2. Tough to find a phone that makes it through a day of me. :(

^Worth the wordplay sir. :p
And indeed, I had to swap out a song so I could add the artist back in. It wouldn't take it. However, the screen was off in that time.

Good stuff!

And in regards to your edit:
Unfortunate, perhaps an extended battery when they hit the market? As far as Idle goes, without disabling a bunch of stuff that I'd have to re-enable when I wanna use it I wouldn't quite see how to reduce it.

^I just have to use it less or plug it in. I hate the bulk of extended batteries. Thats why I had the RAZR MAXXX HD.

If you unplugged your device and didn't touch it for a day, Idle would be #1. It's low strain on the battery and only creeps up to the top in lightly used devices. ;)

Ah okay, that makes sense. Actually makes a lot of sense. D'oh. It's late, I shoulda figured that one out haha :p
