Forgot this. My favorite sayingGo on and be a little dangerous life's no fun if you don't take risks
My bike with the ram mount setup. These new tires are after today's ride. They're much quicker so I'll probably keep that rubber support on the phone while it's in the ram mount.
Heres the car too. Notice color trend? Lol

First drop occurred today while on a bike ride. I had the Note 9 in the UAG Monarch case, in my Ram mount. Mount had a stretchy supportive web to help hold it to the mount, though I hadnt put that on for this ride. Until I came across a section of road with really poorly done repair work-got to it going 15 to 20 mph. As soon as I hit it there was a lot of vibration from the bumps and the phone went flying out of the ram mount and bounced onto the road a few times. I slid the bike to a stop almost sideways to grab the phone as quick as I could. Off the side of the road I checked it over really well, taking the case off. ZERO damage and the case has one small scuff on the edge. So happy. Put the phone back in the mount WITH the supportive webbing attached this time, and finished the ride.
It worked fine just now in auto mode with zooming. Also no issues zooming in pro mode. Not even when the auto mode zoom was acting upCould have been internal damage that will reveal itself over time. Sounds like it had a good fall at decent speed so potential jarring of something on the inside wouldn't be overly surprising.

Tested it again just now, auto mode zoom working fine. I think it just had a glitch. It's possible, yeah. Having had this sort of thing happen to my phones while in armor cases, I guess I'm just hoping that the tight packing of the electronics and the alleged shock absorption feature of our cases prevents such a thing from happening. For what it's worth though, I dropped my Galaxy S2 and Note 2 while they were in armor cases and I never had any problems afterwards.
@amyf7, this is actually part of the reason I go jogging with just my Gear S3 (well, Galaxy Watch as of last Friday). I'm paying T-Mobile a whole $5/month for the wearable data; might as well make the most of it!
I used run, but have been riding for several years now and wouldnt trade it for anything. Really enjoy my phone on the handlebar in the mount to view my workout and maps, etc. The ram mount has a very secure rubber netting that you stretch to help keep the phone stable, along with countless angles it can be positioned at within the mount system. It's possible, yeah.
