I installed the Dev preview 4 of Android N on my Nexus 6P and so far I am happy with the results. I was running Marshmallow with the June update before and I updated OTA to the beta..
My first impressions are positive. I like quick replies, the new split screen view and the slightly different settings menu. The changes are not earth shattering, but very welcome. Keyboard themes are nice too. Some apps have issues with the split screen, but this is nothing major. Especially Facebook is causing issues. YouTube works well, but I would prefer to have a PIP mode for video playback, like iOS on the iPad.
Overall the OS seems snappier than before (but that could be due to the reboot), but I would prefer to wait before passing judgement on that.
The new notifications shade looks nice too. Overall, a good release.
In the next days I can certainly say more about how stable the latest beta is and if it can be used as a daily driver.

I agree with everything you've said here. I'm running android n developer preview 3 abd every change to the. System you mentioned is very welcome!is there anyway to force YouTube to be viewed in the right resolution possible for all videos instead of having to manually change it up?also I forced a downgrade if the Facebook app via side loading the 2.2 apk version and not only is it still extremely stable, but uses way less ram memory, and battery, just saying....

I'm also very Impressed with the extreme doze feature coupled with the massive 345 mah battery is a beast.

So far haven't seen any difference between this and the previous beta. All my apps seem to work just the same. Time will tell about the battery life. But overall still "smooth and snappy".

did the beta preview version 4 automatically OTA download on your nexus 6p? How did you get it? I'm still on preview 3 but if you say there's no difference. i won't worry about it too much. obviously since we all have straight google phones staying up todate with the current software is key. haha

It includes the June 1 security patch. So it might be worth installing if only for that.

I'm brand new to running a developer version on my phone, but i have it ready to install. Is there anything that definitely doesn't work as it did on marshmallow that i will regret? I mostly like having my music over Bluetooth connections.

nope most apps run smoothly.. you'll get an occasional app force close/crash every now and then but nothing seriously.

Thanks for the input. I'll be waiting for the official release but it'd good to know such early builds are running well.

Only thing I've found that just doesn't work is HBO GO

Android Auto is broken in 4, Google Maps doesn't work on AA, worked in 3.
Update, Google says the next MAP update will fix the problem. I've gone back to Marshmallow because AA is critical for me. I miss N, I'll reinstall it when the MAP problem is fixed.

Yes, i found out that HBO go does force close and so does the mobile app for ACentral when you try to open the forums tab. I had to go through the web to get back here.
I'm digging the update though. Don't think I'm going back to M unless something breaks badly.

No thank you. I'd like to keep the joy of N to when it will come out as a final public release. Why ruin such a great experience with "developer" builds? I'm not a developer. I'll wait.

And yes, I even flash every single image the same day it comes out. I just would rather not deal with developer intended builds.

This release and the previous one have both killed my accelerometer. Been looking for a fix but nothing has popped up in my searches. When I rolled back to marshmallow it started working again so it isn't hardware. Tomorrow I'll roll back again but aside from not being able to go to landscape and a couple crashed apps everything is amazing.

How much improvement with respect to SOT have you found with N in general vs Marshmallow?
