First impressions?

If I remember correctly from some previous scanners a couple of software updates help a little bit I'm hoping Google can do the same

Regarding the FPS...I've found that in-display fps work poorly with clean/dry fingers. It works best if I swipe finger across my oily forehead and then apply to screen. It leaves an awful smudge but it works every time. If your forehead is dry or caked with an overabundance of silly makeup maybe you could ask the stranger next to you if you could borrow his, her, or "it's", oily forehead.

LOL

I'm finding the display /notification bar kind of pointless in a way. As Google still has a bar/black bar across the top in apps.

Very smooth phone so far. A few things, small customization mostly, I'm not a fan of yet. I'm really missing my Samsung layouts and settings. Not sure if I'll keep this Pixel or send it back and wait for the S22. I've got 2 weeks I suppose!

I work in biometric fingerprinting. This is quite correct for optical fingerprint scanners. Almost everyone will need some kind of ridge builder. I call skin oil my backup, emergency ridge builder.

But, just making sure you keep your hands moisturized in general should make a difference, as should holding your finger on the scanner for a 2-count or so. We recommend Corn Huskers Lotion because it's inexpensive, non-greasy, and a small amount will keep your hands moisturized for hours.

Is there any way to remove the Google search bar at the bottom of the home screen, and the date at the top left that always pulls up the Google calendar?

And am I just dumb or is there not a close all recent apps button? I'm only able to close 1 at a time at the moment

Standard 6 arrived yesterday. Really like the hardware so far, feels a little like the Pixel 4 in the hand which I like, happy about my decision to go standard over pro. Already clear that the camera is excellent too at least for stills. Other than the internet toggle I also really lke the software too.

The fingerprint sensor is however terrible to the point that I am considering if it is a show stopper for me (especially as there is no face unlock). I have added the same finger 3 times tried turning on the increased screen sensitivity thing and it is just bad, no other way to describe it. I assume it is a hardware issue so not hopeful it will improve with updates but who knows?

I am on the fence, love the phone but can I live wth that FPS day in day out? I have just got so used to them working all the time.

One of the things that worked on the Galaxy S20 and 21 for the FPS was to record 2 fingers, say both thumbs, as the same finger. I don't know why it works but a lot of people say it helped with speed and it seemed to work for me as well.

Could someone comment on the audio quality of the speakers and also the call quality/reception? Thanks

It's broken as hell for me, unusable. I'll maybe reinstall...

I really don't wanna set it up again haha.
Some widgets are not playing nice in Android 12 causing battery drain and crashing third party launchers. The only fix, so far, is removing them from both launchers, restart the phone and add them back one by one. Worth a try.

Thanks I'll give it a go. I did remove my clock widget and can't add it back though...I also can't even open Nova settings lol.
