First impressions?

Been messing around with my 6 pro today (first day with it) The camera is very impressive! The detail coming from the main sensor is lovely, and the zoom, even at 10x it's sharp. One feature that I've found fantastic is the face un blur. We have a 2 year old, with my Samsungs (s21U and fold 3) most of the photos of her came out blurred. With the 6 pro, the un blur works brilliantly, being able to take photos of her and knowing it will get the shot is great!

I'm still getting used to android 12, and the user interface, coming from Samsung, but it does feel very smooth.

I'm not a fan of chrome, and adverts..so still using Samsung browser,

So far the thing that I'm really not happy about is the FPS, I've registered my thumb 3 times, and most of the time I have to input using my pin, certainly one of the worst ove ever used. (Maybe I'm do it my something wrong though)

Imagine some of that is due to faster shutter speed indoors. Seems like there's been a consensus Pixels and iPhones have done much better with indoor shots of kids and animals. I know my wife's iPhone does circles around my Note10, which is the biggest reason I'm leaving Samsung--hopefully for the Pixel 6 if it ever comes in.

This is a very nice looking phone! The feel in hand of the 6 Pro is much less unwieldy than I was fearing - it's more tall than chunky, which is the key. Fingerprint sensor so far is working great for me. Transferring everything from my Pixel 5 went smoothly, activating the eSim needed a quick run to the T-Mobile store to get it up and running. Also Google - 10 zeros in a row in the EID number practically guarantees activation screw ups. ;) Also took me sometime to log back into everything. I still need to put the camera and Live Translate to the test, will do that this weekend. Can't comment on the battery this early yet, I am hoping it lasts through a full day well like the Pixel 5.

Feels premium in the hand, really nice size. I mounted a popsocket to the back of my Google case and it makes it feel secure with my dodgy nerve damaged hands. So it isn't unwieldy.

Battery life at the moment is disappointing after the day and a half with over 6 hours SoT I got with my 4a 5G. I got 4 and a bit hours SoT with 32% spare and around 14 hours before I charged it again. I would be at 1 day, 5 hours for same percentage on 4a 5G. But the screen size, resolution and Hertz were lower on that phone. And that is running on 4G max, as there is no 5G in my area. Will see how it goes over the next few days.

Other than that I am adoring this phone. Speech to text isn't quite as accurate as I hoped with tensor, so I am hoping this better dictation kicks in soon.

Photos are stunning. Have had a few blurry ones with my cats. More than on previous pixel. Again a software update could fix that.

But overall I love this phone and am willing to keep persevering with it because it has so much to offer.

Was outside today and the screen was plenty bright enough without being at max brightness.

NFC was really good for GPay in the shops. Didn't have to touch the reader and it worked.

Speakers are loud and rich and the screen quality for YouTube and Pocketcast was outstanding.

Hope some of these observations help.

Anyone coming from a Samsung? What do you think about the volume and power button positions being reversed?

Annoyingly mine was supposed to be delivered today and now UPS says there is a mixup and I should check back tomorrow.

I bet that will take some time to unlearn from muscle memory!

Oh, no! How disappointing! Hopefully you get it soon!

Actually, now that I have the phone it's not bad. They aren't really too far apart from where there are on each phone. There are other things that annoy me though like the lack of a "close all" button and the fact that you can't change the lock screen clock. I hate that big thing and really can't effectively read top and bottom time.

EDIT: found the close all

Do you know the fix for this? For when I get the Pixel 6, Sprint has no clue about all the extra digits. :D

Not sure there is a fix, the 10 zeros were the middle digits of my EID, not the leading ones, so no omitting them.

Just got the regular Pixel 6 today until my 6 Pro comes. Feeling good, one thing I noticed comparing to latest iPhones and even S21 ultra the speakers aren't really that loud and has that fullness. Average speaker but other than that nothing stood out as immediate opinions. Will play next couple of days and see what I find.

Any Dolby Atmos toggle to put on?

Not that I find in setting when searching or in quick toggle. Don't think Pixels have it, don't remember it on Pixel 5 as well.
Yeah pixel 5 didn't , it had in screen audio , thought I heard the pixel 6 series would have that now .

4th Pixel. 2 to 3xl to 5 to 6 pro. I'm beyond impressed. Phone is snappy and very well made. Not the biggest fan of the camera block, but once my case arrives, I'm sure I won't care. 24 hours in and I'm fairly pleased with the battery even though I'm still adding a lot of downloaded programs.

Just did an overnight at-idle battery drain comparison on 3 phones (8 hours).
At idle the phones drained this amount in 8 hours:

S21 Ultra 9%

Pixel 5a 2%

Pixel 6 11%

This was my first full test day yesterday. Anyway, I was near Wi-Fi working but using the phone at the same time most of the day and I just retired for the evening and put it to the charger when I left it off at this

Got mine yesterday. Impressions so far

Love the display and camera
Finding it too big. After a few hours my hands are sore. I don't like big phones
Battery life isn't great. It may take a couple.of days to realistically measure how good battery life is. This morning i was on a zoom call for a couple of hours and it drained about 35%. Let's see

My second day on a Sorta Sunny P6Pro. Coming from a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE with a cracked glass Pixel 3 as a backup phone. There is also a mistake called an LG G8 ThinQ G8 sitting around here somewhere too. This is about exactly the same size as the FE, so I was used to it and the P6P size was not an issue. I gasped a little over the size differential of the P3 and the FE.The FE had all sorts of funky touch screen issues and i eventually decided that all of the duplicate Samsung stuff, well, it was just too much Samsung in the long run. Samsung is a lot better with updates these days, but in this regard Samsung is not Google. Basically the FE was a good phone. A lot to like about it. However the P6P will kick the FE's butt twice every day in most ways. The touch screen is a lot better, the screen is brighter, I could not see the FE screen outdoors in sunlight. One thing the P6P might give up to the FE is battery life, but I have not had much time yet to tell much about the battery use. The P6P had 64% when it came out of the box. By the time I plugged it in at bedtime there was 28%. That is with doing all of the setup, downloading the out of the box updates, and updating over 100 apps, plus my usual reading stuff before light out. Probably 3 hrs screen time, but I forgot to check. Battery life usually improves some with age after a few charge cycles.

There has been stated issues with the speakers, but mine beats the FE speakers by a couple of country miles. I'm 73 and don't hear real well, but I could hear the P6P speakers just fine from several feet away. It was a struggle with the FE. Downloaded an app called Max Volume, set it at 125% and boom no more speaker issues. Not entertainment center quality, but not tinny either. Good full sound for a phone.

I ALWAYS had fingerprint sensor issues with Pixel phones. I had the original, the P2 and the P3. Sensors worked fine as long as my finger was in the same condition as when I set up the fingerprint. I'm a farmer and over the years my prints are worn down fairly slick, and my hands are never really clean. I was not real pleased with the prospect of an in screen sensor with the FE, but I think I like that position better now than at the back. The one on the FE never gave me any issues with unlocking. The P6P started out pretty high on the frustration scale, but even with limited time, it is getting noticeably better. The right thumb is still a bit more problematic, and I think I'll redo that print this evening just to see.

So the finger print sensor and the battery are the only things that the FE will stand with the P6P on. It has been raining since I got the phone and I have not had a chance to use the camera enough to really tell anything about it. Grand kids and Halloween will probably change that. I will say the FE does have really good camera. I used its 3x telephoto quite a bit and liked it. The fact I liked the FE telephoto was the big reason I went P6P over the P6.
