First impressions?

This is a very nice looking phone! The feel in hand of the 6 Pro is much less unwieldy than I was fearing - it's more tall than chunky, which is the key. Fingerprint sensor so far is working great for me. Transferring everything from my Pixel 5 went smoothly, activating the eSim needed a quick run to the T-Mobile store to get it up and running. Also Google - 10 zeros in a row in the EID number practically guarantees activation screw ups. ;) Also took me sometime to log back into everything. I still need to put the camera and Live Translate to the test, will do that this weekend. Can't comment on the battery this early yet, I am hoping it lasts through a full day well like the Pixel 5.

That's really good to hear that the phone, though tall, is not chunky or unwieldy. I have small hands and was concerned about that very thing while looking at both Pixel 6 devices.

Update on my gesture navigation issues. Got tired of using the 3 buttons and decided to go back to touch gestures. Glad I did as everything is working like it should including bringing up the apps in the background. Not sure what kind of bug I was experiencing, but glad to know it was just that "a bug".

Re:first impressions?

Received my pixel 6 Kinda Coral Saturday morning, i have had it for a day and the Build quality is first class, setting it up no problem as I have a pixel 4 and it’s running Android twelve, it had an update out of the box and the software is but for one minor irritant the welcome to pixel on Home Screen it would not go so Factory reset and it’s gone Hooray!, it runs without any problems and it’s very fast compared to my pixel 4 as it should be,
As for battery life considering all the setting/ installing many apps and spending time exploring the phone’s operating system for new features It became slightly warm after several hours playing with it never hot and now it’s on first recharge and it will take a few cycles to give a correct run time, the fingerprint sensor works every time no hesitation I have scanned my finger as three separate ones gives it a choice if I don’t position it correctly it seems to keep working every time, as for connecting to Wi Fi very quick and no loss of connection, the network signal strength depends on which carrier, I use two different ones neither provides 5G I have set phone to 4G, it took four years for 4G to arrive so 5G ? but is now very fast on one and acceptable on the other, very clear reception on carrier offering wi fi calling or voLTE no dropped calls and good reception,
Haven’t tried camera out yet as we have a rain storm at present so waiting for dry weather, I am not a great user of phone cameras so unable to give a thorough opinion of how good or bad but a quick snap indoors of our cat is ok,
I went for the pixel 6 rather than the 6 Pro as the extra camera isn’t vital personally and both are large compared to my work provided phone an I phone SE yes I know it’s an Apple but I didn’t buy it, and the cost difference 599 GB pounds and pro 849GB pounds is not small change,
Hoping it gives the same good service as my pixel 4 has. Google have at last made two high end phones with Good build quality and a competitive price.

It has arrived! Setting it up now.
First impression...slippery as a watermelon seed between my fingers. 2nd impression.. not as unwieldy big as I thought it would be. Definitely needs a case for security in the hand.

I have put a popsocket on my case and it has made the phone so much easier to handle. Also spread the weight more evenly. Worth a try. If you notice, It is set up so that my thumb is directly over the fps. Means I never miss.

Thanks. My daughters have those on their iPhones. Not a big fan of adding more bulkiness to the phone. Im torn now in whether to return this and get the pixel 6

I love the phone so far. I have the 6 pro. Coming from an iphone 11 Pro Max. (Had a pixel 4 and liked it.) Screen is outstanding. Blazing fast and smooth processing. Fps works well for me. The phone is big but easy to handle for a big phone.

Call quality is great. Reception great.
Battery so far is wonderful.

The clock on the aod is huge...that's my only irritation so far. I know a third party launcher fixes that, but I want the pixel launcher, so I'm going to live with it. I'll certainly never have trouble reading it...

Very happy so far with the 6 pro.

No complaints from me. I do notice the hollow sound of the screen when I tap but it doesn't bother me yet. Fingerprint scanner has worked awesome so far, and Android 12 seems solid.

I'm honestly happy to be back in Android after 2 years with the iPhone XR for work. This phone feels like home to me, I'm just enjoying the feel of the phone and the haptics is so sharp better than the iPhone in my opinion. The fingerprint reader is trash, definitely needs some work. It registers my prints 50% of the time on a good day. Not very impressive. Other than that so far so good.

One tip , try multiple on some finger and try just the tip at different angles

Can anybody talk about reception ? Signal strength ?
Mine should be here tomorrow I'll put it through the ringer and post up

I can only offer my anecdotal evidence.

My Pixel 5 spent most of its time hooked to one local tower, but my Pixel 6 jumps around through three towers. My house is in a location where no tower is really strong, but not so bad that calls don't work. I did have trouble this morning, but didn't look to see which one I was using. The party I called said I was breaking up and I had to move to a different place in the room in order to carry on.

Two of the three are on band 12 (700 MHz) and the third one is band 71 (600 MHz).

That's all I have, and I draw no profound conclusion from this, it's just an observation.

I have trouble understanding folks who just can't seem to spare 500 milliseconds out of their busy lives to wait for their phone to unlock.

The statement above that the sensor does not work well with clean dry fingers is consistent with my experience. The phone is also very slippery with dry fingers.

I just breathe on the finger and try again.
