After I have turned the wifi on on the phone my N4 it connects instantly.

The N5x is taking 20 seconds.

I am about three feet from my router.

Anyone else having this issue.

Thanks.

Don't have my phone yet, so I can't answer as to my phone's performance. But have you tried a restart?

I noticed the same thing on my Nexus 5 which takes around 10-15 seconds to connect to a WiFi. Is it really that crucial? I have OC tendencies, but seriously, is that big of a deal? Curious.

Not too sure what is going on.
Have "forgotten" my network and reloaded it...no change.

Have started in safe mode, in case an app is causing the problem, no change.

So using the wifi switch from the pull down power controls it takes 20 seconds.

However, if I go Settings, Wifi and choose my network...it takes 6 seconds.

As I said earlier the N4 connects instantly.

Basically I am trying to work out whether this a fault on this handset.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

jhayrocas...as a stand alone item it is not crucial; however if it is a symptom of a general system problem with my handset then obviously it is.

Yeah it's slow to connect compared to the N4 for sure..I find myself turning it off and on thinking i've not clicked it..

It's definitly not specific to your handset.. mines exactly the same.

Although since the 5x has 4G I just leave it off as I get ~70Mb on 4G vs 38Mb on my WiFi.

My experience is quite different. When I touch the wi-fi icon in the quick settings the connection is almost instantaneous. It might be down to your router rather than the phone. I am using a Virgin media Superhub1 in modem mode and have it connected to a TP Link AC1200 dual band router.

What frequency are your routers using? (2.4 or 5 ghz)

2.4ghz.It is a Sky Hub black router,

I raised this because of the difference in connection between my existing phone, the N4. and the 5x.

And also now because of the difference between connecting via the 5x settings (6 seconds) and via the wifi toggle (20 seconds).

Maybe both phones, the Nexus 4 & 5X take about the same amount of time, but the Nexus 4 just has it showing the icon is connected to the network when it's still actually obtaining the IP address to a full connection. Perhaps the 5X is true in the sense that it connects properly and the icon or the settings menu displays the true method of the connectivity speed itself.

Mine appears to be similar, not 20s but a few seconds to connect.
I tried it by switching WiFi off and on in quick settings.
Doesn't bother me...

Hmm.. Mines also the black Sky 2.4... (and i also went from N4 to N5x) wonder if it is the router doing something weird.. I have a few others I can check..
