First time droid user

Hi im super excited on getting my droid x tomorrow and I just want some advice on what to put on my droid. I know I have to root it first, but what else should
I do for performance, battery life, and for ****s and or giggles. I've been with my bb storm about a year and the more hear about android phone the more i see my phone as a piece of crap. So if anyone can offer any suggestions that would be helpful.

Here's an idea. Learn how to use the stock operation system, and how to use the Market apps to make your experience better first, before rooting your new phone with an unfamiliar operating system on it.
