Was it a glass screen protector? If it was it's a crappy one.
Glad it was ok....your heart must have skipped a beat! Mine well out of my gym shorts while on the leg press machine at the gym. It only fell about a foot on the carpet but my heart stopped for a second. I didn't have a case on at the time.

Not at all correct imo. That's exactly what they're supposed to do. I've learned cracking 2 iPhone displays to start using glass protectors. Since then, I've used them on 3 additional generations of phones (iPhone 5s, S6 active, S7 active) and all 3 glass protectors (Zagg and Bodyguardz) took the hits and not the displays.
Imo, invaluable accessories and calling it "cheap" is hardly accurate considering they have lifetime warranties. They were replaced and phones good to go again.
I think there was some confusion with the original post. Was the OP reporting that the phone screen cracked or just the screen protector? Because if the phone screen cracked, then yes, crappy screen protector.
My comment was based on the assumption that the phone itself broke. Not at all correct imo. That's exactly what they're supposed to do. So happy you're phone made it unscathed!
That was in reference to a post in this thread from a members son dropping their phone and the protector ended up cracked.
The one that posted a picture? The crack is going past the edge of the protector and the protector looks to have pulled up over part of it. That's a cracked phone screen.
The only post I see mentioning a drop and not having a cracked phone is the very first one, and they don't mention the protector cracking either.
My son's S8 with Spigen case and Spigen screen protector... CRACKED!

Actually, ceramic is worse for drops.Ceramic would be my suggestion. Some phones have used it and I believe you can still have wireless charging with ceramic opposed to no wireless if you have a aluminum or metal back
And Verizon was impressed with my note3 when I returned my note7. I had it for almost three years with never putting a case on it or screen protector and not one ding. It's called being careful.A case and a glass screen protector for all my phone. When I sold my s7 last month the buyer was impressed that it looks like it just came out of the retail box.

And it's also called an accident for a reason, which can happen no matter how careful you are.And Verizon was impressed with my note3 when I returned my note7. I had it for almost three years with never putting a case on it or screen protector and not one ding. It's called being careful.
