First time Note Buyer?

Hey all. I'm considering upgrading from my current OnePlus 6T to the base Note 20. I've never owned a Note, but always wanted one. I expect that I will become a regular stylus user. I'm also considering the Samsung S20 FE as my "budget" option. The Note 20 Ultra isnt an option with my budget.

I am leaning towards wanting the stylus but I've heard a lot of complaints about the base Note 20 display and refresh rate. Would I really notice the difference coming from a OnePlus 6T though? Is the Note 20 display bright in direct sunlight?

The most important thing I'm looking for is a quality, doesn't have to be the best, wide-angle lens to take pictures for my job. I'm just not sure if the Note is worth the extra couple hundred dollars over the FE? Are the wide angle camera lenses similar between the two phones?

Any advice and thoughts are welcome!

Depends if the s pen is a deal breaker or not.

The new upcoming s21 maybe of interest to you if disposable income / budget / upgrade allows.

I use the N20 Ultra and it's a beast and the s pen for my usage habits is relevant and useful.

I'm confident other members here will give you some fantastic insight.

If your shops are open then consider having a play with their retail demo models too. YouTube has some great reviews too.

Good luck with your quest for a new phone.

There are some good deals to be had leading up to black Friday, even Samsung have a deal on at £929 right now in the UK for the ultra with trade in options also.

I picked up the regular note and hands down best device to date for me it hasn't let me down once great device.

It depends on your priorities. For me, screen and camera resolution are important. The last time my phone display was less than 1440p was in 2013 (Note 3), so I wouldn't be happy with that regression. If 1080p resolution is acceptable to you, then the plain Note20 is probably a great phone, although you may be able to find something comparable for less money, unless you need the stylus.

I think the deciding factor would be S-Pen and Secure Folder. Usage of s pen entirely depends on your use case. Regarding secure folder, my personal experience with it is great. I store all my work related documents and apps in secure folder. It is easy to organise and balance work and personal information.

Since 2011, I've always owned a Galaxy Note. I'm currently using a Note9. If you're going to spend close to $1000, get a new Note10+ instead of a Note20. You will be getting a better, higher resolution display that is also bright under sunlight. The cameras are also great. For your budget option, get a Pixel 5. Cameras are great too on the Pixel.
