First time ordering a phone and trading in, have a few questions...

I ordered directly from Samsung, for the first time ever, since they had the trade-in deal. It should be here tomorrow, and I'll be sending them my S5. I have some somewhat stupid questions, as I've never traded in a phone before and have always had the AT&T or Best Buy guys set the phone up for me in the past.

1. Do I remove the glass screen protector from the S5 before sending it in? It's cracked and chipped, but the screen itself is in good shape.

2. I'm going to have to get a new SIM card from AT&T, since the Note takes a different size than the S5. Do I put in the SIM card before doing the Smart Switch? Or should I just take the phone directly to AT&T and have them do everything?

HI,

Every time I have sent back a phone unless I am selling it on Swappa or Ebay is to take the glass screen protector off. Some instructions do say to make sure all accessories are not sent back with the phone. Also I usually do put the sim card in before i turn on the new phone then continue with getting all info and stuff transferred to new phone from old one.

Hope this helps.

Did you order the ATT version or an unlocked one? Mine came with a new SIM card you just need to activate. I would set the phone up myself, the people in the store tend to not be helpful and mess things up in my experience.

I have an unlocked Note 7. I moved everything over before I put the SIM card in but I think either way will work.

Regarding a new SIM card, one person at a Sprint store told me I needed a new SIM card but he was mistaken, the old one works in mine. I had an LG V20, not an S5. You may want to call someone at your local AT&T store to verify the information.

When I got the Note 7, I had to get a new one, since the Note takes a nano-sim and the S5 has a micro-sim. Pretty sure the Note 8 is the same way.

switch it's before you get a new Sim card, I'd switch everything over as soon as it arrives then go get a new Sim and out it in and begin using your new device.

Sounds like a plan, then! I'll install my Whitestone screen protector, do the switch, and then go visit AT&T.

Perfect, hope it came and everything worked out well. I only said switch before that way you have all your apps and settings up and running by the time you put the sim in, saves a lot of time and headache after.
