I'm interested to hear of anyone's experiences with the 360 for fitness. I've been looking at a fitbit as I want something that has a heart rate monitor. What I don't like about the fitbit is that it only measures your resting heart rate and I want something that takes it throughout the day (which I gather the 360 does). Where fitbit comes good is the app and dashboard related bits where you can review your data, and from what I can tell a lot of the fitness stuff for 360 resides only on the watch face itself rather than any reporting back to an app on your phone which you can review at will. Does that ring true or has my research missed this?

Thanks in advance.

I would not consider the 360 for active fitness/workout tracking. For me the heart rate monitor has been hit-or-miss on collecting a heart rate. It must be manually triggered to take the reading and it's slow when it works. My comparison is to a Basis Peak which does do constant heart rate tracking (along with body temp and perspiration volume).

My jawbone up died so I've been relying on my 360. I'm looking at more dedicated trackers. Looking at the Fitbit Charge HR.

There are apps (like cinche) that can be configured to take your heart rate as often as you like (ie every min, hour, etc). With that said, I agree with the other opinions that the 360 is not great for fitness tracking. I too purchased it for the very reason you're asking and 3 months later come away wishing I got an actual fitness tracker instead. Not saying the 360 isn't awesome, looks amazing and does the job, but it's just not meant for tracking fitness. I did expect more fitness apps to get released that take advantage of the avaliable sensors but nothing has really come out. I do still have the built in moto connect measuring my heart rate activity and steps/calories but how accurate that is I can't say iif it s completely true.

Thanks for the feedback. Kind of as I feared. I started all this looking at the Fitbit Charge HR, but as I had toyed with the idea of the 360 a while back (and as the price has dropped) I thought I might be able to go that route.

There are always question marks over the accuracy of these things, but ultimately they are only of value where the ecosystem collects your data and presents it to you in a meaningful way to shape what you're doing. Fitbit's dashboard does that, but it seems that while there is functionality on the 360, having that data presented back to you is weak.

I'm a little surprised at Google on this one; as the king of data mining you would think they could easily build out Google Fit with powerful metrics, and they should get their skates on as Apple will be all over this with their overpriced calculator watch!

This exactly. I expected Google fit to continually add features and additions but none of that has happened...and with apple watch now out you can guarantee the software is gonna ramp up for fitness.

Totally. Apple, never creating but always pushing others into action! Fine if you're thinking of buying in to Google Fit later in the year, but for someone like me looking to buy now, you're more likely to end up with another ecosystem (Fitbit, Jawbone) that's already geared up. Damn annoying!!

i was all ready to buy a fitbit charge hr... then the price dropped on the 360 so i bought the 360 instead. i have zero regrets buying the 360.

having said that, imho, 1) unless you use a nato strap or rubber/silicone band, the 360 is no good as a fitness tracking smartwatch. leather and metal bands just don't work. with leather i suppose you could wear it tight enough for the device to read heart rate but there's the whole stinky sweaty leather issue. metal bands just don't work... 2) as mentioned, the app development is not mature enough to have some of the more advanced features most dedicated fitness tracker have. 3) wrist-based heart rate monitoring is still in its infancy and in my experience has not been very accurate.

i think there's lots of potential in all the fitness tracking devices, including smartwatches like our 360; but i wouldn't rely on them to track my heart rate and other serious fitness data if i were a real fitness nut. there are dedicated devices that already do the job very well.
