[Fixed] Trying to switch phone number accounts and failing

Okay. I got a new Motorola Triumph. I am trying to give my old V to my son. I reverted to a stock rom but I cannot activate the phone to his account (his phone number). Why? How can I do this?

you switched the esn to his account already?
if running the "activate" app doesn't take care of it, ##virgin# on the phone keypad allows programming the new number in, but there's a second number you have to get from his old phone in the same ##virgin# service menu (or get the second # from custy service as a last resort)

Yes.

It seems that when I try to use the activate app or ##virgin# 3G switches to 1x and then to nothing, which makes activation impossible. I am at a loss and he needs a phone by morning.
