Maybe someone can give me the whole scoop. So I rooted with Gingerbreak successfully and installed the droid recovery app and ran a nandroid back up of my phone when it was 2.2 and rooted.

Now if i wanted since i will soon be running on rooted 2.3, would i be able to flash back to rooted 2.2 with that nandroid backup that i made?

I hope there is someone who can answer some part of my question. I think I should have broken it up into the steps I went through, so the question is broader and can be answered by more people.

So I installed and ran Gingerbreak successfully, as given in the how to root sticky. I follow the post here in the forums to the droid life page to get the rooted gingerbread zip and moto bootstrap app to get into recovery on the DX2.

So with the recovery tool I created a backup (or nandoid backup I think) while I was rooted with gingerbreak and all the bloat left where it came. Now if I look in my external sd, I see a folder called clockworkmod with a folder called, back up in that, which contains large backup img files. With the recovery can I use the same backup/restore selection to then load that backup to go back to rooted 2.2? I have also gotten rid of bloat on 2.3 now that I am runninn it, would I have to put that back before going back to 2.2?

You can not just nandroid from 2.3 GB back down to 2.2 froyo. Do to the fact 2.2 & 2.3 use different baseband radio's. If you did everything thing would work but calls & data.
