FLASH is dead. The ICS version is the last one Adobe is doing for Android. They are going to remove FLASH from Google Play in Aug so if you want it install it now.

You'll be able to download older versions of mobile Flash from Adobe's archive, and I'm sure there will be versions floating around the development communities. But yes, they're putting their full weight behind newer standards such as HTML5 and CSS3. As far as preparing for the next few years, it's without a doubt the right move.

I wouldn't have a problem if Adobe was killing Flash overall. That would force web pages to move away from Flash. I don't like that they are only killing the mobile version of Flash. That's going to make the transition to HTML5 happen much more slowly.

That being said, I'm sure hard core developers will hack Flash onto new devices. It will be available somewhere.

it will slow it down a little bit, but not much. mobile device use is rising quickly so that will provide a push to migrate to html5.

They might only be killing the mobile version, but they are shifting a great deal of resources away from flash development.

It works at the moment, but that may only be because Jelly Bean is more of an incremental update from ICS. Adobe is no longer supporting mobile Flash so it may not work on newer versions of Android at some point.

It is not officially supported in jelly bean. Adobe also announced a hard end date after which new flash installs will not be allowed.

I'm a big fan of college sports. I follow many games from various sports using GameTracker online. It uses Flash exclusively.

Until GameTracker uses something other than Flash then I'm afraid Jelly Bean will be only a dream for me.

Which part uses flash? I can bring up the homepage on my iPad. I just wanted to see.

Flash in the main stream will be gone by this time next year. There is too much market share from the mobile community for the internet not to drop Flash just as fast. It is a resource hog every developer will be happy to see die.
