Re: Flash Player Is No More After 4.4 Update
There's always a few growing pains when new OS versions arrive as some apps will become "incompatible". Generally this is a fault of the app developer, and not necessarily Google (I'm not familiar with AT&T Uverse, but that's probably what's happened here)...I know HBO Go only recently started working with the 4.3 update. The Flash video issue is going to continue to be one regardless of platform because Adobe simply isn't providing support anymore.
I guess my point is that "Google isn't leaning" in anyway to usurp your freedom of choice...nothing in this update actually prohibits any of those services from working, but obviously the developers of the apps will have to update themselves (in the case of Flash this won't happen, but you get what I'm saying). Having said that, if you choose to continue using an older version of software because it's more compatible with the apps you use, then I certainly don't see any problem with that.
Security improvements notwithstanding, I think that often folks get wrapped up in the excitement of OS updates, without actually considering if it's truly something that can provide them any immediate benefit.
I did because I lost Amazon Prime function, and ATT Uverse function, and other wen flash function thru Firefox, I don't like me freedom of choice being usurped. I chose android over iPhone for that reason but kitkat makes me feel Google is leaning that way.
