Flash the forward facing camera LED for notifications?

Moto display works great for notifications when phone is nearby, but I would like to be able to visually see incoming notifications from a distance. I have tried Light Flow, Call Flash, and several other third-party apps to try to get the forward facing (selfie) camera LED to flash for incoming notifications but haven't found one that can do this. They all are able to flash the rear facing camera LED for notifications, but when the phone is sitting on a flat surface this LED is not visible.
Any ideas on how to get the forward facing camera LED to flash notifications?
