Flashed the wrong RUU

Due to some problems with some ROMs, I decided to unroot my evo. I flashed the 3.7 RUU, which failed.

Now, the phone boots to a black screen with the htc logo and four triangles in the outside corners. When I get into the bootloader, there are no options and just shows a highlighted RUU.

Hboot - 6.16
Radio - 2.15
S-ON

Does your computer recognize the phone when connected? Possible try running an RUU from your computer....

Have a feeling you might be bricked for good.

Can you give us the complete HBOOT & Radio numbers? You shouldn't be at HBOOT 6.16 and S-ON, as 6.16 is Revolutionary HBOOT. Something seems amiss here. If you're S-ON, though, you should be able to flash the latest RUU (4.67.651.3). Froyo probably won't work (it all depends on your main version).

If he can't get it to connect with a PC or if it doesn't search for the PC36IMG there isn't anything else really he could do. Also you can never go to an older hboot version.

Yes, you can downgrade your HBOOT (I should know; I wrote a guide on how to do it).

Usually if the device doesn't recognize the PC36IMG.zip file, it's usually due to it being named incorrectly, or corruption on the SD card.

Your bootloader is in RUU mode, which means you should be able to run an RUU from a computer and update the device. You just need to make sure you have the fastboot drivers installed on your computer, which come with HTC Sync.

I need my phone on a regular basis, so I took my evo into sprint, and I'm picking up a free replacement on Saturday.

I appreciate all your help, and I definitely know what not to do now.

Yes, you can downgrade your HBOOT (I should know; I wrote a guide on how to do it).

Usually if the device doesn't recognize the PC36IMG.zip file, it's usually due to it being named incorrectly, or corruption on the SD card.

Your bootloader is in RUU mode, which means you should be able to run an RUU from a computer and update the device. You just need to make sure you have the fastboot drivers installed on your computer, which come with HTC Sync.
