Flashing Stock ROM question

I have a couple questions.
I have a note 4 that has CM12 on it but I would like to go back to the stock ROM
The phone is unlocked, if I go back to stock will it re lock the phone?
Also, do I just have to make sure it's the correct firmware for my model number, or does it have to be the last used baseband version for the stock rom as well?

I am new to android so I just want to make sure I do this correctly - I don't want to screw anything up.
Any advice would be helpful!

Did you make a nandroid back up before flashing CM12? If you did, just restore it and you're back to the way it was before. If not, I would recommend flashing a rom with touch wiz.

I didn't. Well, I got the phone from someone else so I don't know if they did.

Is flashing the stock rom hard? How long does it take? Does the baseband number matter or can it be any of them as long as it matches my device model number?

Flashing a rom is pretty simple. What custom recovery do you have? I use TWRP. Also, I have a T-Mobile Note 4 with baseband ANK4. So, roms have to be the same. I'm using Fire Kat V9. I highly recommend this rom. It's a customized stock rom with great stability and battery life. It's currently on V10. I saw in another post that you're on T-Mobile as well. As long as your baseband ends in ANK4 you can go ahead and flash V10. Before you flash anything, I recommend making a back up of your current rom just in case. I'll attach a picture of my baseband for you.

Looks like it is the same. Where can I find that rom and what would the next step be? I already downloaded Odin. Sorry I am so new to this the questions probably suck. Thanks for the help!

Do not use ODIN. That is used to restore your phone to factory settings. You need to boot into recovery. You can do so by using an app from the play store called Quick Boot. Some roms allow you to boot straight into recovery by holding down the power button. Can you tell me which custom recovery you have?

Ok, download the app Quick Boot then open it and select Recovery. It'll boot you into your custom recovery. Mine is call TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project). The other popular one is CWM (ClockWorkMod Recovery).

It does seem kind of complicated but take it one step at a time. That's the guide I used. That'll allow you to go back. To stock and if you choose you can root as well. Good luck.

Hi, although I don't have the Note, I have an S3. I too was scared to root, but since this phone is out of warranty I went ahead and took a chance. It's not that hard, you just have to be sure you do it step by step. Just search Google for how to root your model of the Note. For instance, my phone model is i9300, so I just searched, "How to root Galaxy S3 i9300". Doing that for your model, you'll click on one of the links, and within the article, it will give you links to all you have to download. I tested some ROMs of the latest Lollipop version on here but it just didn't look right to me, so I flashed the stock ROM. It's not bad once you get the hang of it.
