Flashing with odin

If i flash firmware with odin on my s4 , can i update the software later via ota or with pc kies? Or i'll need root ?

If your using Odin to flash official software images to your phone then yes you should be fine to receive future updates OTA or Kies. If you used Odin to flash unofficial, rooted or custom ROM software then you will be normally at the mercy of the ROM developers to update to any newly released updates.
