I had a flashlight app on my Note 3 that I could swear was working but now is not. I download and tried approximately 6 more and none of them are working. I even tried one that said it was for the Note 3 but it didn't work either. Anybody have any ideas?

That happens to my flashlight every so often. The thing I do all the time is just reset my phone and then try it out again. It seems to work after the reset, why, I don't know.

Just reboot your phone. I haven't figured out what periodically causes the flash LED not to work, but rebooting the phone always works for me.

My first note3 flashlight app that came on the phone and the camera flash didn't work either so I called Verizon and they gave me another phone

Definitely try a restart first

Same here. Flashlight apps and camera flash stop working once in a while, but a restart fixes it every time.

I can confirm. Been messing around developing a flashlight app and the way android works with all of these devices sure is a pain. You shouldn't have to ever reboot if the application is designed well, but usually doing so will solve the problem.

Yeah it sucks. It rarely happens but unfortunately when it does happen, it happens at the worst times. I was trying to take some pictures at a wedding and it just died. Had to restart but by then someone with an iPhone already took the picture

Let's only hope that this annoyance gets fixed with the KitKat upgrade.

It is a known bug with the Verizon variant of the Note 3. They have known about it since shortly after the device was launched. There was a maintenence update that was supposed to be pushed with the fix back in January so I can only presume that it will be baked into the OS upgrade when big red chooses to grace us with that.

Is it really so hard to make a flashlight work?
I have Samsung S5 mini and I had the same problem. The torch stopped working just hour after I first discovered it's existence. I could still activate the led using the magnifier function instead which had a button for light too. It's nice to know there is back up light when I don't have time to reboot. It was also amazingly hard to find the flashlight function in the first place. I almost thought it HAD no flashlight, but found it when I tried the easy mode and there it was on the first page. After some while I discovered a way to bring that function (and the magnifier) to normal mode too and also found User manual in the process! o_O
