Flashlight stopped working

When I pull down the menu of widgets, where the flashlight icon is, it simply won't turn on anymore. When I click on it the highlighting ring around it appears, but it just doesn't activate. Since flashlight doesn't appear as an apication I can open to check on setting I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions?
I've already tried restarting the phone.

What is the flashlight app you use?

It's not an app, just the onboard flashlight button. It's built in.

Try a flashlight app. TeslaLed is small and trusted. If it doesn't light up there's a possibility of a busted lamp.

I just downloaded it and when I try to open it the phone says "unfortumatelt TeslaLed has stopped." And it won't open

Has the phone taken any hard drops? The LED should be pretty robust, so Id take a guess thats it's a software problem.
If you have a local Best Buy that has the internal Samsung support team maybe you could let them take a look at it.

Same thing for me once on new S7. Working again though. Possibly resolved after a restart.

The exact same thingredients happened to me. Sorry if you said already what app ended up working for you? I'm scared it's the bulb I did drop this s7 a few times. it's not built like an iPhone 5s for sure

Gosh, you have a flashlight icon?! Lucky you! My S7 doesn't have it like the 6 did. Very inconvenient but I will try the Tesla app that was mentioned, I can't find a darn thing at night and end up using my screen haha!

Are you using Android N beta version? I am facing the same issue and I suspect its the Android N cauding the issue. Hopefully the upgrade should fix it

This happens to my Note 5 (N9208) after I updated to the latest 6.0.1. It's there on the pull-down menu, but only greyed out and cant turn it on. I tried talking to google to turn it on but still doesnt work. Flashlight works only whe I take a picture or record. It's not even working when I skype or video call. This was fine before I update. It works fine on my friends S6, and her phone isnt updated yet. Pls kindly help with a fix.

After updating to 6.0.1 my j7 flashlight dsnt wrk on lock screen but wrks unlocked

Wow, this worked for me! I then turned off my flash again since I don't like the auto flash and the flashlight still works, so it completely solved the problem.

My flashlight widget stopped working and wouldn't even stay on my home screen. Turned out that all it needed was to update. After i updated it, its been working perfectly!
