Just wanna start off with a disclaimer. This is NOT my app nor am I in any way associated with the app or the developer. Nothing I hate more than people coming here ?recommending" their own apps posing as just another user.
I want to suggest this app especially for those using flip covers like I am, although it's not specifically designed for use with flip covers. Basically what this app does in general, is give you more aesthetically pleasing notification than your generic (or even customized) front led light.
When you get a text, fb message, email, whatsapp, twitter, etc (you can enable/disable each) you will receive not only your normal notification (ex. ring, vibrate, led), but also an icon on your screen. This icon shows up while your phone is still locked, without you manually turning the screen on. Oh, and it looks really good.
Now here's what makes this app so much better if you have a flip cover (which the developer hasn't advertised). Among the options of the app is a setting called ?pocket mode". If enabled, the icon notification will not keep flashing when the device is in your pocket (presumably to save battery). The app will treat the phone as if it's in your pocket if you close your flip cover.
The implications of this is that a) you can check all your notifications simply by opening the cover (no need to even turn the screen on) and b) because the notifications will automatically turn off when the cover is closed, the battery does not drain. When you reopen the cover, notifications will come up again.
Now, the app is not free (costs around two bucks), and there is no trial or ad-supported version, so I understand it may not be for everyone but I absolutely love it.
Anyway, if you wanna check it out, it's called knock2+. I had a hard time finding it on Google play, you might have better luck searching with the developers name (kvnx1337).
