Foldable Phone Reveal

Geez. Thing looks massive when opened. How thick will it be closed?

Also how will they make cases for this thing that are for drop protection and not the thin flip phone type cases they used to make out of leather.

I won't be buying this.

If you watch the video, he says it's in a case so as not to reveal everything... hence why it looks so big.

He also says in the video that it's a 7.3" display when unfolded.

Considering it was in a boxy case to hide the design it actually looks pretty compact. I'm not sure how I feel about a small front screen tho. Will look awkward against today's smaller bezels.

I'd have to see it in person, but it looks promising mini tablet unfold and phone closed . also what's it going to cost ? A arm or leg lol doesn't look cheap.

Nice in theory if you need a tablet and a phone. Not something I'm interested in at the moment.

Why is this thread in the Note9 forum?

Honestly... because it's the only one I read and quite frankly... I wasn't thinking; that simple, lol.

Sorry... mods, feel free to move it... like you need my permission, lol.

I don't know if I'd buy one... I'm just fascinated with tech in general, and where it's going.

I am not interested in any foldable phones. Looks dumb to me but that's my opinion. I will only be sticking to phones like my Note9

I think the foldable phone will be making compromises in other areas so it all depends how much you want that extra screen real estate.

For e.g., I think the foldable phone will probably have just the basic camera module. It might have to have the minimum size battery as a large battery plus those screens would make it too thick and heavy.

If that is the case, I think I'd rather just have a phablet phone like the Note 9 as it's an all rounder phone. Large (enough) screen, best mobile photography, largest battery etc.

But for sure there'll be people who will want it just for all that extra screen. In case I am wrong and the foldable phone doesn't compromise on anything else, then I would be extremely interested. Possibly as an upgrade eventually to my Note 9.

As a developer for working professionals, this will be the BOMB! Especially running 3 apps, my choices, crm, communications and management dashboard, all with enough screen real estate to make all of the apps easy to use. I'm excited!

epic fail one sammy felt forced to do... imho

How so? They have been talking about this for years and have had foldable displays so they obviously are trying and waiting for a finished product. Just because some other company came out with one first, that is far inferior, and Huawei is talking about building one doesn't mean they are being forced into releasing early.

Looks cool for sure. But as much as I would want to buy it I must resist the urge. I will want to see how the durability holds up and what the reviews are. I would love to have the self control to wait for the second gen version. However I am weak.

Having something like this as a companion to my flagship phone meaning same phone number and synced together would interest me. This on my desk at home/work portable enough to carry to meetings or anywhere in my home would be sweet. The key for me is having two devices on the same number just like the Palm companion which I just sent back. It is however something I will keep my eye on just for kicks!
